Chris Jordan (double post)

Chris Jordan is an American photographer who explores American consumerism and the environmental impact in his own unique way, above is his studies of albatross chicks in the Midway Atoll, an area of sand in the middle of North Pacific (over 2000 miles from the nearest land mass), are a grim reminder of the harm man can unknowingly cause nature. The decaying albatross chicks in his images are unwittingly fed plastics and other litter by their parents scavenging what looks like food from the polluted ocean around them. year round tens of thousands of chicks die each year either from starvation, poisoning or choking.
To faithfully document this sad and shocking situation, Jordan didnt move manipulate or alter any of the carcasses or plastics pre or post shooting.

Below are images from Jordan's 2005 study on the personal loss of the victims of hurricane Katrina, motivated by the same concerns as Jordan's studies on the impact on albatross colonies, Jordan explores the impact of Katrina as a natural disaster amplified by global warming, poor wetlands practices, poverty and the Bush administrations failures of its people due to resources being stretched by the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
