Frederic Lebain

Frederic Lebain is a french photographer, I know little to nothing about, think i saw his work on the imaginary foundation blog, his work flicks somewhat manically between surrealist collaged landscapes, to surreal still life and lomo style travel work. All of which are particularly brilliant, below is his series A SPRING IN NEW YORK, he found various locations, shot them, developed and printed then returned and reshot the piece, clever boy!!

Amnesty - Kris Van Beek

above are Kris Van Beek's adverts for Amnesty International, terribly simple concept which has been done in various guises over the years, but very effective, i think they are great simple, eyecatching and hard hitting like they should be.

Chris Jordan (double post)

Chris Jordan is an American photographer who explores American consumerism and the environmental impact in his own unique way, above is his studies of albatross chicks in the Midway Atoll, an area of sand in the middle of North Pacific (over 2000 miles from the nearest land mass), are a grim reminder of the harm man can unknowingly cause nature. The decaying albatross chicks in his images are unwittingly fed plastics and other litter by their parents scavenging what looks like food from the polluted ocean around them. year round tens of thousands of chicks die each year either from starvation, poisoning or choking.
To faithfully document this sad and shocking situation, Jordan didnt move manipulate or alter any of the carcasses or plastics pre or post shooting.
(paraphrased from chrisjordan.com)

Below are images from Jordan's 2005 study on the personal loss of the victims of hurricane Katrina, motivated by the same concerns as Jordan's studies on the impact on albatross colonies, Jordan explores the impact of Katrina as a natural disaster amplified by global warming, poor wetlands practices, poverty and the Bush administrations failures of its people due to resources being stretched by the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Happy snow days

Sorry been a bit slow on the update front what with Christmas, however in celebration of the snow thats currently making people in the UK loose their minds, and in celebration of my girlfriends new book purchase, here is a couple of David Lynch's images from Snowmen, i love how eerie and creepy he manages to capture what to most are a sign of childhood innocence.

By the way Santas eleves didnt grant my Christmas wish for the re-enactors book however she has got it for me anyway jsut for January, she did get me Egglestons guide for xmas, which is one of my all time favourites so cant complain.

shall be much more on it with my posting in 2010 so look out for daily updates.
